Programming Assignment : Pattern Matching

Assignment #1 (due date Sept 12th, 2007)

* Read Edward Moore’s paper “Gedanken-Experiments on Sequential Machines” and write a resume from that paper

* Design a Moore machine which the output is 1 when the input sequence is 00111. Draw the state diagram and transition table

* Prove with Inductive: if B is a binary tree with n leaves, then B has 2n-1 nodes

* Prove by Inductive: 1 + 2 + … + n = (n(n+1))/2 for all integer n>= 1
